Our Goal

Our goal is to become the joinery company of choice for any organisation or individual who requires wooden products of distinction, throughout East Anglia, Kent and London.

Who is Desired Joinery?

Desired Joinery is a family run business which is a development of MD Joinery which was formed in 1998. With a strong focus on quality and attention to detail, yet providing value for money, MD Joinery enjoyed success since its formation working for a variety of clients both private and commercial who appreciate these qualities and the individuality of hand-crafted products.

Mark, who formed MD Joinery, has worked as a joiner for over 30 years.  During this time he has been involved with a huge variety of projects, of which a few samples can be seen on this website.  In particular Mark has worked closely with Henderson & Redfearn, by virtue of being only one workshop apart from each other in Beaumont-cum-Moze.

We have enjoyed a great deal of success particularly with listed building and barn conversions where our creativeness and attention to detail is particularly appreciated.

Core Values

Our core values are that of “Quality, Sustainability and Fairness” to all.

We are never satisfied with the status quo and continually explore ways of improving our processes, equipment, materials and working practices to ensure we provide our customers with an enhanced product at the best possible rates.

Core Purpose

We recognise that every customer is different and wants the end result to be something they can be proud of. Our core purpose is simply to give a customer a product exactly as they envisaged it, if not better.

Sustainability

Desired Joinery is here for the long term!

Materials

Products are sourced from distributors local to our workshop who are able to provide a quality and reliable service. These suppliers are able to provide details of the origins of the products we buy. This might be by their membership of, for example, FSC (Responsible forestry) or PEFC (Promoting sustainable forest management) or similar mark of sustainability.

Employees

We strive for our employees to have the desire to come to work each day, work hard and take pride in their achievement and particularly revel in the customers delight.

In return we provide them with good rates of pay, quality equipment, a sensible place of work and, most importantly, the chance to learn. Traditional skills, such as carpentry, joinery and cabinet making, need to be passed on to ensure the industry continues long into the future.

Efficiency

Desired Joinery utilises the benefits of Six Sigma process of continual improvement to maximise the efficiency of our resources (people, material and equipment). Therefore, our profitability is determined by our efficiency and not by simply charging the customer more to overcome inherent inefficiency.

Building Regulations ‘U’ Values

Current Building Regulations require external doors and windows in new build properties, to meet heat saving standards. The criteria is currently to achieve a ‘U’ value of 1.8 and 1.6 minimum respectively. Such standards are necessary to ensure that new properties become more and more efficient in respect of heat loss over the long term.

Whilst currently this is only a requirement for new properties, it is our belief these regulations will become more stringent over time and could also extend to replacement doors and windows in existing properties.

We are pleased to advise that Desired Joinery Ltd are able to provide ‘U’ value certification for external doors and windows. Therefore, our customers are able to have bespoke doors and/or windows and not be forced into having ‘off the shelf’ standard products.

General

Whilst the majority of projects were undertaken using traditional materials, we readily recognise there are occasions where it is correct to use modern equivalent to suit a particular requirement. This can be for both cost control measures but also by virtue of the inherent properties of these modern materials.

Quotation

We would welcome the opportunity to discuss any project you may be considering now or at some time in the future.  Our hope is that we can provide you with imaginative solutions to your particular needs.

Desired Joinery will provide a free of charge quotation for any project you are currently considering. Our services are available in areas including Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Kent and London.

Partnering

Desired Joinery work equally well with individual customers, corporate entities and architects.

It is our experience that working in conjunction with architects, from the early stages of a design project ensures the ultimate client receives their desired outcome.
